Haley's remarks and plans to veto the Farm Bill. First, farmers are not the same as small businesses. They weren't given any grants or tax credits to start their farms. Their products are not ones we can choose to live without. Business come and go, but the farmers stay with us! Second, how can SC advertise to buy local produce, when the local produce will be severely reduced by the prospect of farmers no longer able to farm. Our state has been proud of our agricultural heritage, and now the farmers need us. My only personal farming interest is three tomato plants; however, I see the struggles of the local farmers every year as their crops are hit by heat, cold, wet, or dry conditions. Mostly, they keep going. Now they are saying they can't. Now is the time for all of us to support them. Governor Haley has lost friends and influence with her remarks and stand on this issue. Please ask her to review the facts and reconsider.
