(Columbia-AP) April 13, 2006
- Aiken Senator Greg Ryberg started airing television
ads in Columbia this morning in his bid to win the
Republican nomination for state treasurer.
Ryberg reported last week that he had made a two
million dollar donation to his own campaign last week.
He said he wanted to raise the visibility of the race.
The ad talks about Ryberg's family, business and
conservative record in the Senate, including fighting
against gambling.
He faces former Richland Representative Rick Quinn,
Upstate builder Jeff Willis and former US Senate
candidate Thomas Ravenel of Charleston in the June 13th
primary.
The winner takes on incumbent Democrat Grady
Patterson in the November election. Patterson is the
only incumbent Democrat seeking re-election on a
statewide ballot.
