Good afternoon,
I have been a resident of York, SC for more than 10 years.  I have resided at the address above and called it my home.  In December of 2011 I fled my house in the middle of the night due to an abusive marriage. He was punching holes in the walls, making threats and it was only a matter of time before the wall became me.  That same night I received a call from a mutual friend that my now ex-husband had been committed. When I left, I took everything in the house that he might possibly hurt himself with, the knives, scissors etc. Left him all the contents. I only had the shirt on my back.  Over the next few months while he attempted to regain stability the house was left in disarray.  After weeks of cleaning it, it sat empty.  This house I once called my home, the broken promises the memories all gone.   Then some friends of mine offered to stay in it so that the upkeep was happening (grass cut, no broken windows).  By this point with my ex acting up-I went into hiding. He was threating me, my family to the point that the security guards at work would escort me to and from my car for my shifts at the hospital, I took a gun safety course, I had an order of protection.   I still get threats as recent as 3 weeks ago.  On January 11th 2013 the family court judge ordered that the people in the house stay there or the house be put on the market to be sold.  I nor my ex are allowed to live in the house.
Now the assessor's office states that I'm an "investor" which is untrue.  I currently maintain an FHA mortgage on the house; I am simply following the court order so that I do not face jail time.  The increase in the taxes I feel is unjust, as I am following the court order.  I am not asking to pay any taxes, just to have them revert back to the previous amount.  The new mortgage payment due to this amount is not supported by the area, and I cannot afford it.  The past 3 years have been enough to make any sane person question their sanity.  There has to be some type of exception for these situations.  I am literally between a rock and a hard place. 
 
In addition I want to ensure you that I am not in another house, or apartment. I have been staying at my parents house in my 12 year old sisters room on her bunk bed.  Attempting to keep this house afloat.
