Currently the Berkeley County School Board and the City of Hanahan are at odds on the placement of a new elementary school which was part of a bond issue to be placed in Hanahan. There are two problems with this to date. The first being because they are at odds and no site has been selected as of yet. Now to set the story straight from my and other resident's point of view there was problems between the selection between BCSB and city of Hanahan. I feel that they were not playing very well in the sandbox together and it was very oblivious to the residents. I saw Hanahan step up to the plate and offered to sell the BCSB their most prized piece of land to no avail. The BSCB was set upon a piece of property and they would not change their mind. They did present that piece of property to the planning commission and were declined because all the paperwork was not completed. Now I don't want to get into the details in this email but would prefer you assign a member of your team to investigate what is going on with this. I feel that what I may say might influence the way you look at this problem but it is indeed a problem because nothing is getting accomplished. We need a school sooner and not latter for the future generations of South Carolina citizens. This other problem really has me upset and I feel you need to intervene. The BCSB is suing Hanahan for not approving their request for variance from the planning commission and city off Hanahan. Why are we allowing one government agency to sue another and cost the taxpayer unneeded expense. You fight hard on behalf of the taxpayers and try to tighten belts so we can do more with less. And what does the BCSB do, they hire expensive lawyers and cause Hanahan to hire lawyers wasting the taxpayers hard earned money. This I find is totally unacceptable especially after seeing your work on making this a taxpayer friendly state and taking on fiscal control and responsibility. Again don't want to spend a great time on this email but would be available to anyone from your organization that can investigate this. I can be reached at 843-789-4600 or my cell phone 516-509-4293. Sincerely William (Bill) Healy
