SC State University over road crosswalk on Chestnut. Who is paying for this? I pay Orangeburg County taxes and I sure hope my taxes are not going to increase because of this crosswalk. Don't understand why this is happening because SC State is under probation and can't even balance their finances. I drive this way once-twice a week and never see any student crossing the road. The Student Housing is just across the road and the parking lot is filled with cars. Do you honestly think students these days are going to walk to class? This crosswalk is a waste of money. If the state is paying for this or some, it would be better to use this money to fix and maintain the roads/bridges. I pay school taxes and don't think I should have to because I do not and have never had children. 2. Church Camp Road in Cameron - the road is still washed out from the flooding a few months ago. The pond filled up and washed the road out. Not sure whose responsibility (Pond owner, county or SCDOT) it is, but it needs to get fixed by working together. I know there are many other roads/bridges that need repairing, but would like to get this fixed also as soon as possible. Can anyone tell me when this will be repaired? 3. Dwight Swamp Road, Cameron is not properly maintained. The only thing SCDOT Orangeburg County Maintenance does is scrape the road. The ditches have not been properly maintained. If they would dig the ditches and maintain them, the road would not wash out as much. When it rains, the water has no place to go except over the road and therefore causes it to wash out. When they do dump rocks on the road, they end up scraping them off. There are more rocks on the side of the road than in the road. What a waste of money. I have called them on numerous occasions about this, but it goes in one ear and out the other. Someone please have some common sense! Very Respectfully, Cheryl
