We need to have a public policy that will pay for this advanced public education so that we do not burden our citizens with so much education debt that they cannot afford to buy houses, start companies or build wealth through owning assets. Imagine a country with a GI bill that helped an entire generation get an advanced college education and that build an economy that created and expanded a middle class and you will be thinking of our parents generation during and after WW II. Imagine a country that educates the next generation of our children and grand children giving them opportunities to get a Vocational or College education to help them get jobs as electricians, plumbers, welders, home builders etc... or jobs as engineers, scientists, accountants etc... Imagine these people not having the burden of education debt, earning wages that help them buy houses, start new businesses and live their American Dream. Our education reform needs to teach people how to learn and why a lifetime of learning will pay them back a thousand times enhancing the quality of their lives. We do not need to adopt the Asian test taking model of education. Test takers are not creative, do not invent and innovate. We need western style education that teachers people how to learn and how to be curious about their world to solve the tough problems of the world with new creative inventions. We do not need eastern style education that teaches people how to pass tests.
