Summerville SC 29485 dmayeres@aol.com 843-873-3788 HEAL House Bill H. 4879 for Medical Marijuana Use Dear Governor Nikki Haley, Thank you for your great service being the governor of our great state of South Carolina and representing our conservative values. I also voted for you in the Primaries and General Elections, being a Conservative myself. I am respectfully asking you to support House Bill H. 4879 for Medical Marijuana use only being introduced by, SC House Minority Leader, Todd Rutherford (D-Columbia) for medical purposes. I am a 100% Service Connected Disabled Navy Veteran and retired In the Line of Duty back in August of 1989 and am at T-8 Paraplegic. I suffer from spasms too my lower extremities and have severe chronic pain since my injury. I do not currently smoke or eat marijuana because it is illegal. However, I have read in states where it has been legalized the many benefits it has on para and quadriplegics to reduce or eliminate the symptoms we suffer from and taking us off of much more dangerous drugs that I am on such as, Baclofen, Diazepam, Gabapentin and Oxycodone/paracetamol prescribed to me by my doctor at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. All of which causes liver and other organ damage over time. I rarely drink alcohol as not to make things worse with their interactions between each other. It does not matter to me if it is is legalized to be administered by smoking (which I prefer NOT to) or to digest in several ways such as cookies or brownies. Thank you for your consideration of this bill and looking forward to a response back from you. Regards, EN1 David A. Mayeres, Jr. USN (Ret.)
