COLUMBIA, S.C. - A state trooper accused of
assaulting a man in April while off-duty has been fired following
new charges.
Lance Cpl. Alonzo L. Hutto, 36, of West Columbia was fired
Thursday, the day after he was charged with criminal domestic
violence against his wife, Julie Hutto, 36, arrest warrants and
police said.
Alonzo Hutto, a trooper since 2000, was released Friday from the
Lexington County jail after posting a $15,000 bond on each charge,
records show.
Hutto was charged in April with kicking and punching Robert Lee
Corley Jr. of Lexington, and later pointing a gun at him in a West
Columbia parking lot, arrest warrants show.
Those charges were dropped after he completed a pretrial
intervention program, Public Safety spokesman Sid Gaulden said
Tuesday.
In the latest charges, Hutto is accused of violently shoving his
wife into a van, and later grabbing her by the throat and shoving
her against a wall at their West Columbia home last Wednesday,
arrest warrants show.
