From staff
reports
Gov. Mark Sanford today
nominated Horry County Council Chairman Chad Prosser to be director
of the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
The Murrells Inlet resident has served on the Horry County
Council since 1995, as chairman since 1999.
“Promoting South Carolina’s quality of life as a point of
competitive advantage for our economy depends hugely on PRT,”
Sanford said. “Chad is a perfect fit for this job because he’s been
on the front line fighting that battle here in Horry County for the
past 10 years.
“He has the vision, the business sense, the industry experience
and the creativity to advance South Carolina on the national stage
and better leverage the value our state’s natural beauty can have on
our economic future.”
Prosser is managing partner of Wachesaw Plantation East Golf Club
and a director of SunBancshares Inc. Before moving to Horry County
in 1993, Prosser worked in Washington, D.C., as an intern in the
administration of George H.W. Bush.
“Governor Sanford has laid out a compelling vision for our state
that is centered on improving quality of life for each of its
citizens,” Prosser said. “He knows that maximizing the economic
benefit of our state’s unsurpassed natural resources starts with
maintaining those resources and doing a better job of promoting them
to the rest of the country.
“I’m committed to making PRT an integral component of his plan to
improve our state’s
economy.” |
