| State Republicans Hold Weekend Convention |
| (Columbia-AP) - State Republicans continue
their big weekend Saturday with their state convention featuring the
candidates who hope to take the U.S. Senate seat of retiring
Democrat Ernest "Fritz" Hollings. U.S. Representative Jim DeMint, former Governor David Beasley, Bluffton businesswoman Orly Benny Davis, Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride, former state Attorney General Charlie Condon and Charleston real estate developer Thomas Ravenel all are seeking the GOP nomination. The candidates will have an audience of about 1500 at the convention. The session's keynote speech will be given by current Governor Mark Sanford. |
