I am a survivor of rape. I was so angry that you had done that and in my letter I stressed that. It made me feel like we didn't matter, we weren't important, that what was done didn't need to be talked about; hoping that it would go away. I asked you in that letter to think of your daughter. That you make a difference. That night, the help I received from the ER was overwhelming. I didn'need someone to talk to me, but just to be there, sit with me, and help me feel a little bit of safety. I knew I didn't ask for it, but it didn't make me feel less ashamed. I thank STSM for all the help they gave me. But I also want to thank you too. In the years that have followed, you have done a great deal to end Sexual assault and domestic violence in our state. You have made a task force to help eliminate it. You have spoken out and said "No More, We Matter!" THAT makes a HUGE difference. I have walked the "Miles in her shoes". With the events that have been happening in another state (Turner) the anger rises up in me that victims still receive so much injustice. I want to make a difference and I pray that I will one day help make a difference, but I want to say THANK YOU for helping to make a difference in our state. We need people to acknowledge that it's wrong, to help fight for change, to help be our voice. It is a hard struggle to leave the "victim" title behind and become a survivor even without the stigma that victims face. With people like you, it makes it a little easier. Thank you Tracy Cinicola Adams
