SC Looking for Beef Ambassadors

SOUTH CAROLINA---Great prizes are available to participants in the SC Beef Ambassador competition, sponsored by the SC CattleWomen, SC Beef Board, and Clemson Extension Service. Contestants must register by July 10, 2001 to be eligible to compete.

First place winner will receive a $500 scholarship sponsored by BI-LO, $200 cash, and if juded worthy, a trip to national competition in Little Rock, Arkansas, to represent the state. Second prize is $100 and third is $50.

Contestants must present an illustrated speech and answer questions from a panel of judges. The contest will be the opening activity of SC Jr. Beef Round-Up on the afternoon of August 3, 2001. Youth ages 15-19 are eligible. A workshop for the contestants will be held July 17, 2001.

The purpose of the Ambassador Program is to prepare contestants to be spokespersons for the beef industry within their schools and communities. Packets containing complete information and entry forms are available upon request from the SC Beef Board, PO Box 11280, Columbia, SC, 29211.
