While the president of this country is a twice-elected black man, racial inequities and tensions continue to blight our lives and the future of the US. A pope advised, "If you want peace, work for justice." The goal of justice for all Americans is not supported by a state government which allows itself to be represented by that symbol of oppression and cruelty, the Confederate flag. I implore you to do the right thing; not the politically expedient thing: the right thing. Take that flag down! Making the right choice is far more important that the re-election potential of any politician in this country. Demonstrate your recognition of this truth.
