I am currently active duty stationed in Texas but own a home in Summerville, SC which is in Charleston County. The Charleston County Tax Assessor office has yet to create and make available an application form to support H.3027 and their current application is in violation of Title 18, US Code, Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701, Official Badges, Identification Cards, Other Insignia. Photocopying of military identification is illegal and violations of this law are punishable by fine or imprisonment. Therefore, they cannot ask for a photocopy of my military ID as part of the application process. There are several other types of documentation that can be provided to prove status of service without violating current laws. In addition, they ask for what I believe to be an excess amount of supporting information to include the last two years federal tax statements. Why is this needed? Please help me in resolving this situation. V/r, Capt Charles Connell
