Columbia (AP) - More than 300 state workers who want higher wages and stable health insurance costs and benefits are expected at a rally this morning at the Statehouse.

The workers say the two percent pay raise proposed in next year's budget isn't enough since they did not get raises in the past two years.

The South Carolina State Employees Association says inflation has grown seven percent in the past three years while the average wages for state workers has increased just 1.5 percent.
