Please check with SLED and see if there is a state investigation on going concerning the 18 Million Dollar loss. AN OPEN LETTER TO CCSD AND THE SCHOOL BOARD THE 18 MILLION DOLLARS YOU "LOST" WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO FURTHER THE UNDEREDUCATION OF BLACK STUDENTS THE PROBLEM WITH CLOSING LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL 93% of Student population is black Only half the students graduate WANDO HIGH SCHOOL Minority enrollment is 17% of the student body which is less than the state average of 48%. These High School Students are being moved from Lincoln High, the lowest performing school on SAT's in South Carolina into Wando High School, one of the top scoring High Schools in the state. I just do not think the Lincoln students can successfully perform there after school careers of ridiculously substandard educational experiences? Also, the distance between Wando and Lincoln High is 25 miles. I figure some High School students will be traveling three to four hours a day to get back and forth from school. How many of you would travel three to four hours a day to High School? THE SOLUTION 1. Until a RACIALLY DIVERSE High school is built in Awendaw Lincoln High should remain operating. 2. The Chamber of Commerce should spearhead an effort to raise the 18 Million dollars the CCSD and it's Board "lost" in union with the NAACP. NAN, the ILA, and the Charleston business community. If Billionaires running to claim political power as President can raise Billions from the wealthy business community and in $ 27 increments from the rank and file population surely the Charleston Community can raise 18 Million to foster equal education. 3. Michael Bobby and Nancy McGinley should return their severance packages. 4. If SLED has not begun a Criminal investigation into who had knowledge of misleading the School Board on the budgeting I will ask Governor Haley to launch such an investigation. According to a November 16th Post and Courier News Story: "Staff have manipulated the numbers to keep the board from seeing the budget, and it's not just the financial office. It's system wide," said board member Todd Garrett, who sits on the audit and finance committee. He said district employees included "unrealistic assumptions" in the budgeting process, including underestimating the costs of salary and benefits. Garrett said he could not specifically say who provided the bad data or approved the additional spending." I believe a number of criminal activities on the part of CCSD caused this shortage. In the event such an investigation is not currently underway or underway shortly I will launch my own investigation as I am licensed by SLED as a Private Detective.
