Tough fishing on Lake Greenwood, Dixie HS Anglers undaunted
The Dixie High School (Due West) Hornet Anglers, T.L Hanna High School and Ninety Six High School all participated in a bass tournament at Lake Greenwood on Saturday, Oct 20th.
Fishing conditions were less than ideal and many of the anglers left with empty fish bags. Ninety Six had four fish weighing in with 13 anglers fishing, T.L. Hanna had one fish with 13 anglers and Dixie weighed in 27 fish from 32 anglers. Dixie's Avery Gambrell took the top prize and T.L. Hanna's Derek Freeman had the big fish at 4.17 pounds.
T.L. Hanna will host a Bass Fishing Club Invitational on Nov. 17 out of the Portman Marina on Lake Hartwell. All bass clubs affiliated with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) registered teams have been invited to compete.
To start a youth bass fishing club, all you need is a minimum of six students (within the 11-18 year old range) with dues paid. In addition to six student anglers, you'll also need an adult at your school to help lead the club, provide advice and help arrange at least two club tournaments, fundraisers, speakers and other learning sessions pertaining to fishing for club meetings. The Youth Bass Fishing Clubs is a product of a partnership between the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, The Bass Federation of South Carolina and B.A.S.S with help and support from parents, teachers, school districts, local bait and tackle shops, community partners and Pure Fishing.
