WELCOME TRACK & FIELD FANS!
On behalf of Spring Valley High School and Principal Jeff Temoney, we welcome you to the 24th Annual Taco Bell Track & Field Classic.
When we started this meet 26 years ago, we could only dream that it would turn into what it is today. The Taco Bell Classic has grown from hosting 13 schools in 1991 to now being one of the largest track meets in the country. We now welcome male and female athletes from almost 200 high schools representing a 20-state area. Over 2500 athletes attend annually. We have hosted several future Olympians, one Olympic Gold Medalist, as well as national record setters and future collegiate All-Americans. Each year we get to preview the college football and track stars of tomorrow. We have once again been selected as one of ten national “NSSF Select Meets.” We are proud to have the National Scholastic Sports Foundation as a partner in bringing great high school talent, head-to-head to our meet.
As meet directors, we would like a few things to happen today: (1) a fair competition for all athletes, (2) a user friendly meet for coaches and fans, (3) competent and cheerful officiating and (4) an exciting atmosphere. Good food and good weather sure don’t hurt either. If anyone has any concerns, constructive criticism or compliments, please contact us at any time.
We would like to thank everyone who made this meet possible—the Spring Valley Coaching Staff, all of the officials, the staff of the NSSF, the Viking Track Teams and their parents and especially all the competing athletes.
Thanks for coming and as always we promise to “make it a little bit better
each year.”
Thanks!
