| (Columbia-AP) -- Democratic presidential
hopeful Howard Dean stopped in South Carolina Sunday. Dean opened his Columbia headquarters located at 1556 Sunnyside Drive. The former Vermont governor has been the best-funded candidate in the crowded field of nine Democrats, but is one of the last to open an office in South Carolina. The state holds its first-in-the-South primary February 3rd. Dean also picked up an endorsement from Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Junior, who is the son of the Reverend Jesse Jackson and a Greenville native. Dean and Jackson visited Columbia's Community Christian Methodist Episcopal church and then went to a rally at a Columbia hotel with a standing-room crowd of about 400 people. |
