CHARLESTON, S.C. - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and the Democratic Governors Association threw their support behind state Sen. Tommy Moore in his bid to defeat Republican Gov. Mark Sanford in November.
Richardson was in Charleston Monday as the National Governors Association wrapped up its weekend meeting.
Sanford, who has the backing of the Republican Governors Association in his re-election bid, was the host of the meeting.
Richardson said he was impressed Moore's campaign and looked forward to serving with him as a governor.
On Friday, Moore held a fundraiser in Charleston and talked about the need for economic development in rural South Carolina with Democratic Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack.
