COLUMBIA, S.C. - Gov. Mark Sanford's mother,
Margaret Sanford Peyton, will perform two piano concerts next month
to raise money for the Lace House on the Gov.'s Mansion grounds.
Proceeds from the Oct. 3 concerts will benefit the Mansion
Foundation and renovations for the Lace House's 150th anniversary
next spring.
The state's one-time official guest house takes its name from its
intricate black ironwork.
Peyton and her partner, Eunjoo Yun, have selected a series of
light and rhythmic duets, dances and waltzes, including a rumba and
samba.
First lady Jenny Sanford oversees the mansion complex and is
organizing the concerts in a continuing effort to draw public
attention and use of the mansion and its accompanying Lace and
Boylston houses.
Sanford reopened the Lace House last spring for weddings and
receptions. She hopes the concert will help with indoor renovations,
such as draperies and rugs.
