The states' only hospice house now is in Anderson. State regulators have approved another in Florence. Kit Cosgrove with Hospice of Charleston says others should be coming soon in Mount Pleasant, Rock Hill, Georgetown, Hilton Head Island and Greenwood. Hospice of Charleston plans to begin work on a 20-bed facility in Mount Pleasant that should be ready by next year. It will employ about 30 people. Patients typically move into an inpatient hospice facility in their final weeks of life and when their care has become too intense to be addressed at home.
