Here at My Sister's House, Inc. SC citizens do not feel this comfort. Our clients are fleeing from situations of domestic violence. They've had to leave their homes, they do not have anything but the clothes they are wearing and the hope My Sister's House, Inc. can give them a new start. These women have been beaten, emotionally tormented and often feel this is an acceptable way to live. This is not in any way acceptable. We aim to assist women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence by providing free services. Some of our services include: counseling, child therapy, temporary shelter, court accompaniment, food and clothing. We are here to help these women begin a new life, and so can you. SC has been ranked in the top 10 for deadly violence against women for the past 18 years. This statistic is unsettling and we can work together to end the violence. On the morning of October 15th in Charleston county, hundreds of families and friends will march at our "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event. Families carry signs honoring loved ones that lost their lives to domestic violence, local uniformed police, Citadel military cadets and business owners walk hand in hand representing the unity this community desperately needs. While we go about our daily routines there is a woman out there being hurt- we must stop looking away. We ask you, Governor Haley, to consider participating and speaking at our local event. Simply your voice, your presence, would help save lives and shift perspectives on the heavy topic of domestic violence.
