Ft. Jackson ceremony honors service of over 200 Army reservists

(Columbia) July 10, 2005 - Over 200 Army reservists attended a ceremony at Fort Jackson this weekend honoring their year-long service in Iraq and Kuwait.

The 175th Maintenance Company and the 319th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment provided overseas support in Southwest Asia. The reservists are thrilled to be home, "It's a real honor to do our duty, comeback and be honored. It really feels great."

But one of them is missing. Ann Wade's son was a member of the 175 Maintenance Company, "He's supposed to be here."

She says he made it home from the warzone safe and sound, but it was while helping a stranded motorist on the side of a Midlands interstate that Staff Sgt. Johh Wade was hit by a car and died, "I'm proud my son was in the service and did what he was supposed to do."

His son joined Wade's mother in accepting his award. Each reservist at the ceremony received a Warrior Citizen Award.
