Dear Governor: 

I am sending you this email because:

Uber as you know is operating legally in SC for a limited time, however, Airports have rules and regulations in place to insure the safety of the passengers. The Airport does offer permits that can be purchased so officials can monitor traffic. Well, as an Uber driver I purchased the permit and according to the Airport I am operating legally. In order to maintain a relationship with the Airport, I told any other drivers they were also required to have a permit. That's when The Big Bad Bully, Uber, called me at my house! While I was resting! On my time! Until this call I had never spoken to anyone from UBER, thus, when the phone rang the last thing I expected was to have an employee of Uber on the other end. Immediately she raged in on me and verbally chastised me and also threatened to fire me. All because they did not want its drivers to get permits. She indicated that they were upset that I elected to do the right thing. She said she preferred I operated illegally and get arrested than get the permit. She also said they encouraged other drivers to operate illegally at the risk of being arrested. Their only comment was they would assist financially and legally. Basically telling me and other operators to break the law or be fired. I did not read any email from UBER that said they would have that arrest expunged, or get you out of jail, or explain to your future employer why you have a criminal record. I don't know about you but I was taught to obey the law no matter what someone tells you. 

As for me I am 57 years old and I have heart problems (I have a stent). I have even changed professions in order to experience as little stress as possible, however, if you, or anyone, had heard the woman from UBER interrogate me you would have experienced the other side of UBER. After hanging up with her I had to take a precautionary aspirin and seclude myself because of my racing heart. Never in my life have been spoken to in that manner. She literally tried to verbally beat me into submission. This went on for 21 Minutes (I looked it up as I felt it lasted much longer) finally, I gave in to her demands because I felt my heart rate begin to dramatically increase, and I was losing my temper. It's been over a day now and I still have not gotten over it. Ironically I tried to call back and speak with the woman that belittled me so I could get a better explanation of her motives but the voicemail says they do not take phone calls and only correspond by email. 

I am a big fan of UBER. I have supported UBER ever since they arrived, even calling my representative in Columbia on its behalf.  I feel they offer a valuable service especially for the late night people that need a lift after a few drinks. I have also heard of the company's repetition of being a Bully but I never thought I would experience it. 

In recent articles concerning UBER, they claim to encourage cooperation with local and state government in order to operate legally. They claimed they want to operate within the law, and adhere to local regulations, however, this experience indicates to me, they intend to continue to operate outside the law. They are basically slapping SC in the face.
