Governor Hodges promotes sales tax holiday.
Tax-free weekend is "bigger than just back to school"

Bluffton, S. C. - Governor Jim Hodges today encouraged people to take advantage of the second annual sales tax holiday at a news conference at Hilton Head Factory Stores in Bluffton.

"The sales tax holiday provides savings for folks aged eight to 80," Hodges said. "Seniors who want to purchase clothes for themselves or school supplies for their grandchildren can shop tax-free during the upcoming holiday."

The sales tax holiday will be held on August 3rd, 4th and 5th.

"I want to encourage tourists and shoppers in Georgia to take advantage of our sales tax holiday as well," Hodges said. "South Carolina is on the cutting edge of states that give customers a break on back-to-school purchases."
