Sanford appoints three to Department of Natural Resources board

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Mark Sanford put three new members on the Department of Natural Resources board and plans to replace the remaining four members this month.

The Republican governor is replacing a board Democratic Gov. Jim Hodges put in place.

Sanford's appointees are:

- Stephen Davis, Greenwood engineering consultant whose family has managed timberlands for wildlife for four generations.

- Michael Campbell of Columbia. Former Gov. Carroll Campbell's son is a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wildlife Federation who runs The Crescent Group, a consulting group.

- T. Smith Ragsdale of Georgetown. The Ragsdale family owns Exchange Plantation in Georgetown County.

The three replace Russell Holliday, the only female member of the board; Ben Gregg; and Julius Leary. Remaining members on the board are chairman Joab Lesesne, Douglas Rucker, Malloy McEachin and former Clemson head football coach Danny Ford The unpaid board members serve four-year terms.
