My fear is that Common Core will set back those advances. I have seen examples and heard stories even at this early stage of child and parent frustrations with the illogical new math. I see it already in my kindergartener's (charter) class: using paper clips and blocks to measure instead of a ruler. My second grader niece is told to "estimate" how many BEADS, etc something is. Would we want a skyscraper to be built using "about" 3ft-long beams here and there? Common Core is nothing more than an extension of the liberal agenda to control the population by dumbing it down so it is manageable and easily manipulated. Everyone is "equal" in their ignorance. Frankly, I am surprised that you signed off on this terrible idea, since you have thus far been a sincere conservative whose decisions I have applauded. PLEASE consider its removal, as Indiana has bravely done. Thank you.
