Arkansas governor
visits Upstate
The U.S. economy can rebound from recent hardships because
Americans have a way of reinventing themselves, Arkansas Gov. Mike
Huckabee says.
Huckabee, who has been mentioned as a possible contender for the
Republican presidential nomination in 2008, came to Spartanburg
Monday night to give the keynote address at the GOP’s county
convention.
In his address, Huckabee hit on several domestic hot-button
issues, including an amendment to ban gay marriage that South
Carolina voters will consider this November.
Encouraging voters to support the amendment, Huckabee said ballot
questions like this are a major reason elections are still important
in America, despite their cost and time.
Huckabee, along with other possible GOP presidential candidates,
are spending a lot of time in South Carolina, which intends to hold
the first presidential primary in the South in 2008. |
