Haley Office of the Governor 1205 Pendleton Street Columbia, South Carolina 29201 Dear Governor Haley, As your constituent, I am writing this letter to urge you and your appropriate state agencies to look into the matter surrounding Mike Harris, "The Shark Tooth Fairy" in Beaufort, South Carolina. Mr. Harris is a local diver who, with town approval, offers FREE Shark tooth and fossil hunts to children of the Lowcountry. His events have become "can't miss" opportunities to all families in the area. As his events have grown in popularity by word of mouth, he has attracted the attention of Dave Cicimurri, Curator of Natural History at the South Carolina State Museum, who is in the process of shutting down the Shark Tooth Fairy by revoking his diving license. As a proponent of free enterprise in South Carolina, the fact that a government bureaucrat is using his powers to over regulate Mike Harris and the small sea islands surrounding Beaufort should cause you alarm. This type of overreaching government action doesn't help the citizens of this great State and squashes the heart of entrepreneurship. The residents of the Lowcountry want Mike Harris to continue his shark tooth and fossil hunts. These hunts are a unique addition to our area bringing together residents in a fun event which produces lasting childhood memories. We cannot allow the government to interfere. Mike Harris 1 Coosaw River Dr Beaufort SC 29907 843 812 5631 Thank you for your attention to this urgent request. Sincerely, Debbie Gillies
