House Speaker David Wilkins and Gov. Mark Sanford
briefly discussed their political futures Tuesday during
Wilkins’ weekly ETV show.
Wilkins, on his reported nomination by President Bush as
U.S. ambassador to Canada:
“It seems like every time things are going well in the House, one
of two things happens — either the governor shows up with pigs, or
people start rumors about me leaving.”
Sanford, whose pig stunt last year infuriated Wilkins, on whether
he’s planning a presidential run in 2008:
“Absolutely not. I’m trying to survive the week.”
