Jim Williams feeling pissed off. 8 hrs · . So, time to rant a little... It has been 10 days since Christmas, 4 days into the new year, 2 days 'till Jimmy should be 21 and 5 days until we have to once again travel to South Carolina, for the 6th time, to attend a hearing from an accident that happened more than 4 years ago. Christmas, New Years, another missed birthday, makes this extremely poor timing for the state of South Carolina to extend the privilege to a guilty, as self admitted, 5 time DUI offender, and murderer of our son, the opportunity to appeal his sentence. When do we stop getting victimized? Why do the guilty have the ability to control our time, emotions, and finances? When someone causes an accident that kills,a young teen, and paralyzes another young teen, is guilty, pleads guilty, agrees to everything the judge says, explains, and asks him if he understands everything that has been laid out in front of him, over and over again, and he says yes, pleads guilty, is sentenced, with leniency because the judge felt that he is young and the fact that his father was also an alcoholic, was a factor to consider, and then he decides that he got a raw deal and bad advice from his attorney, he decides to appeal, wasting taxpayers money, more of our money, our good friends money, and time, and our justice system allows this, there is a major malfunction. South Carolina has one of, if not, the most lenient laws on DUI and multiple DUI's (Jmmy's killer had 4 previous DUI's and was out in a $2,500 10% bond) hundreds of people are killed on South Carolina freeways every year by drunk drivers and repeat offenders, They need to take it more serious, they need to consider the victims, the maimed, the deceased. Convicted criminals should not be afforded rights, rights are earned by being law abiding citizens. I am pissed that my wife, our kids, families, and friends have to live through this over and over... If his appeal is successful, we will appeal, it will all start over again with a bond hearing. It is ridiculous, this man is guilty, knows that he is guilty, admitted that he was guilty and yet he has the right to drag us through all of the heart ache and pain again and again. Help me out, write to you U.S. senator, the South Carolina Attorney General and anyone else that you think can make a difference so that victims do not continue to be victimized by the guilty. Only 2 days until we were supposed to be celebrating a young man turning 21, instead we are making flight arrangements, renting a car, hotel rooms, to go and watch a guilty man asked to be set free because he feels that he got a raw deal. I wonder how he would feel if it were his son or daughter that was killed or paralyzed? I wonder if the laws would be the same if the Attorney General of S.C. Lost a family member to an impaired driver? 1 more sleepless night. We miss Jimmy Williams every minute of everyday.
