Sanford spokesman Will Folks to seek "less intrusive chapter" in life

(Columbia-AP) July 20, 2005 - Governor Mark Sanford's press secretary says he plans to leave his post at the beginning of August to work in the private sector.

Will Folks says he will revive his political consulting company, Viewpolitik. Folks worked on Sanford's election campaign and briefly left the transition team to establish the company in 2002, then ended up returning to the governor's office.

He sent the governor a letter of resignation last week. The 30-year-old Folks says he's looking for what he called a "less intrusive chapter" for his life.

Folks had no previous political experience before he was hired by Sanford, and Folks says he would like to be involved in Sanford's re-election campaign through his new company. He also says he's working on a book.
