The Associated
Press Gov. Mark Sanford plans to hold the
first of his "open door after 4" office hours with the public
Wednesday.
Sanford talked about setting aside an evening once a
month meet with citizens in his office.
"It's not a visit with my
staff, it's not a visit with an agency head, it's not a visit with an
intern. That's a personal visit with me," Sanford said in his State of the
State speech two weeks ago. "They won't be long visits, but anyone from
anywhere in South Carolina will be able to sit down their governor in the
governor's office, and I think that that's important in terms of
accessibility.
It's a little more complicated than just dropping
by.
Sanford spokesman Will Folks says people who want to meet with
Sanford will have to go to the Gov.'s Office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Wednesday to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. People need
photo identification and their Social Security number to sign up for five
minutes with Sanford between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
