Conservation Reserve Program Update

As of December 31, 2000, South Carolina had 218,109 acres enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program.

Although no general CRP signup is scheduled for fiscal year 2001, producers with contracts expiring September 30, 2001, have been afforded an opportunity to extend their CRP contracts for one year.  Producers with CRP contracts expiring on September 30, 2001, must request to extend their contracts for one year by May 31, 2001.  In South Carolina approximately 4,000 acres under contract will expire on September 30, 2001.

County FSA Offices continue to accept offers under the 23rd Continuous CRP signup.  Some of the most popular practices available under the Continuous signup are:
 


The 23rd Continuous CRP signup began October 1, 2000 and will end on September 30, 2001.  As of December 31, 2000, South Carolina had 268.5 acres enrolled under the 23rd Continuous CRP signup.
