Dear Honorable Mrs. Haley:

Barnwell County Hospital closed its doors June 2013 and reopened under new ownership who immediately reduced staff. I lost my employment after 15 years and been unable to obtain another job. I am 58 (in April) years old with multiple limitations. I admit my productivity was not 110% at the hospital when I left as it was when I was hired, but an understanding supervisor and the longevity on the job aided me in retaining work. It's hard to live without an income for a year and a half! My savings and other resources are depleted. I can't go to specialists, have surgery or have anymore maintenance procedures or meds because I simply do not have the money. They charge $100. a visit at CMI in Aiken where I was going. I don't qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or ObamaCare. Please reconsider your stand on meeting the valleys between Medicaid and ObamaCare. Yes, I have applied for Social Security Disability but do you know it takes THREE YEARS to go through the process to MAYBE be approved (if you can financially survive the wait). What can be done about that? My son &amp family have moved in with me and help with electric and we get foodstamps, but they can't afford all my expenses - they have bills of their own. Please show me how to help myself.
