President Bush is expected to visit Charleston on Thursday, according to the White House.

The president will be visiting two days after the state's Democratic primary. Bush was in New Hampshire last week, right after Sen. John Kerry won that state's primary.

Warren Mowry, former top Republican in Greenville, applauds the presidential visit.

"Any time the president comes is good," he said.

Alex Mumford, Democratic chairman in Greenville County, said he was surprised Bush was coming into a second state following a Democratic primary.

"I've never seen a president follow in that closely," he said Saturday. "It's an unusual tactic."
