130th Stump Comes to a Close
It's a historical political event, 130 years strong. The sounds of happy Democrats filled the air at the Annual Gallivants Ferry Stump Meeting. The bluegrass band, the balloons, all the fixins' and and a man who wants to be president. That man being Senator Joe Biden, sensing anger from Americans over high gas prices.
In Washington recently, the CEO of Exxon-Mobil told Biden under oath that the oil giant didn't need another tax break from Congress--Biden wanted to cut it.

"I went to the floor of the United States Senate and Republicans wouldn't let me get a vote on it. You have to have a forum, and that's why it's so important this year we win back the House and Senate," says Senator Biden.

The November election is just six months away, and Democrats from top to bottom are quick to place the blame. While the Bush administration says there's not a lot that can be done in the short term to bring gas costs down, the most recognized and popular Democrat in the state disagrees.

"As long as you got that president in there, he's not gonna do anything but talk around the bush on it," says Former U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings.

Hundreds of Democrats at the Galivants Ferry Stump believe big oil could get them back into power this November, even likely presidential candidates are talking about it.

"They're still looking at us to step up to the plate. They've given up on the other team, and they want to know if we're ready for primetime. We are ready for primetime," says Biden.

The American people will make that decision in November, and you can expect Republicans to strongly disagree.
