Even with the over-65 discount I pay over $1,100 a year, plus property taxes on my car. Yet I waited a year to have the drains cleared at the end of my driveway on Hudson Road and my yard still floods every time it rains. The property taxes are onerous. I am on a fixed income. I think property taxes should decrease with time, not increase. I will never really own my home because I still have to pay $100 a month in taxes. Why does it take so long to get services? If I don't pay these taxes on time you are very quick to penalize me. In addition, my medicare part B premium is over $100 a month and when I went to the doctor last month I paid $103.33. I had no tests or procedures, just a new prescription written. I am a senior citizen and instead of enjoying retirement I have had to go back to work part-time just to make ends meet. I am very tired of parting with my hard-earned income and Social Security check and getting very little in return.
