This non-fiction book describes Sherman's psychological war on civilians and identifies his reasons for successfully blaming General Wade Hampton for burning Columbia. It's titled "Sherman's Flame and Blame Campaign through Georgia and the Carolinas ... and the Burning of Columbia." I hope you'll stop by the gift shop and take a look at the strategies that Sherman used to make civilians lose faith in their leaders and their government and to kill the will of the people to continue the war.
