Transportation Commission approves interstate highway deal

Associated Press

The state Transportation Commission has unanimously approved an agreement with North Carolina on connection points for Interstates 73 and 74.

There was little discussion when the resolution was approved at a meeting here Thursday.

The agreement requires North Carolina to build a 3.7-mile connection to Interstate 73 near South Carolina state Highway 38.

South Carolina will build about a five-mile link to Interstate 74 from the Carolina Bays Parkway in Horry County.

North Carolina's DOT board is to take up the resolution March 3.
