Duncan Director Fairview Early Childhood Center 308 West Martintown Rd. North Augusta SC 29841 feccdirector@comcast.net 803-292-0571 803-278-7208 LETT Education 24.23.90.137 Honorable Governor Haley, I am pleading with you on the behalf of one of my dedicated staff members regarding the recent law granting a high school diploma to those who did not pass their exit exam during a certain time period. I have exhausted all possible sources to get this accomplished for her with no success. I started with the local North Augusta High School and learned that Dorothy Marie Walker does not qualify for the diploma because she was a special ed student that did not pass her exit exam. I feel that an exception should be made on her behalf. I understand the specific guidelines, however it would benefit her greatly to have a diploma. Obviously rules are rules, however if you could see fit to draft an "honorable" diploma I am sure that would give her a great sense of purpose and accomplishment even though it is not credentialed as the real high school diploma is. If you see fit to discuss this matter further I can provide more detailed information on her behalf. Thank you for any possible consideration of this request. This would be Marie's best Christmas ever if this could be granted! Thank you, Nancy Duncan Director Fairview Early Childhood Center North Augusta, SC
