(Columbia) June 28, 2003 - A new display at the State
Museum pays tribute to Strom Thurmond.
On Saturday, museum goers stopped by the display and
took a look at different pictures and some Strom
memorabilia. There were baby pictures of Strom, family
pictures, and a few showing the late senator with
political leaders.
Clint McLane paused to remember the senator, "I think
that the state lost a person that has done a lot for
people. I was listening to the news over the last couple
of days and I heard about one fella that couldn't get
his military paycheck, and on a Friday night at 9:00pm,
Strom Thurmond called his house and took care of it."
You can view the display for free during normal
business hours at the museum.
