Governor Hodges Responds to Supreme Court Vouchers Decision

Columbia, S.C. - Governor Hodges today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision on school vouchers. The court's decision legalizes the use of public, taxpayer dollars to subsidize private school tuition.

"I think it's wrong to take money away from public classrooms and give it to exclusive private academies. I have always stood strong for putting more resources into our public schools. We're making progress on improving our public schools. It would be a mistake to stop that progress and fork over taxpayer money to private academies."
