ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A rug manufacturer plans to invest $8 million to build a distribution center at its Upstate plant, which could create up to 50 jobs, company officials say.
Orian Rugs Inc. plans to build a 130,000-square-foot addition at the plant on state Highway 81,
"Business conditions will dictate how many jobs will actually be created," Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Don Newton said Thursday.
The company operates two production plants, one in Anderson and the other in Belgium, and employs about 620 people.
The Anderson plant produces the textiles and rugs for customers in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The company moved to Anderson in 1978 and has since invested more than $70 million here.
The addition will connect all the buildings and make the production process more efficient, Newton said.
