Morgan DSS 506 Byrd Avenue Columbia SC 29203 gayle29201@yahoo.com 803-223-5779 An investigation was opened December 4, 2015, I have pages upon pages of how I have been trying to contact the social worker in this case. My grand daughter was beaten by her mother Letitia Miller on November 29 she went back to school on December 2 and told the teacher what happened to her face. DSS was contacted and an investigation began in November she beat her with a jump rope and when the child held the rope she got an extension cord and proceeded to beat her. I spoke with her and told her if it happened again I would alert the authorities, on November 29 she beat her again this time with a belt that left her eye swollen and a belt buckle mark in her back. My son still has not had a hearing, we kept the 12-year-old for almost 2 weeks when the mother persuaded her to come home, the social worker told me that she did not believe the child was safe alone with the mother; yet you allowed her to go home because there had not been a hearing and she stated she persuaded the mother to let her stay with us. The child went back home and in January I went to the school to see her and she had a bruise on her neck; once again I called the social worker and sent her the pictures. I had to call the hotline to get any results, the case worker came out to do a walk thru of my home and left and never returned or called. My son received a registered letter from DSS saying that the mother had been found guilty of excessive abuse and they feared for all four of the children. She tested positive for cocaine, yet the children are still in the house with her and we still have not had a hearing. I am not allowed to see my two granddaughters because I took the pictures of her face after she had been beaten. On Monday evening March 14, 2016, the child reached out to another family member stating that she was afraid her mother was coming home to beat her again, she wanted them to reach out to her father to come get her. My son called Richland county then met them there, of course, the mother was not at home and he was not allowed to take his girls because nothing had actually happened to them. The police do not want to be involved because it is an open investigation unless the child calls while she is in distress. My question is what has to happen before DSS does anything? She told my son, her husband that she had to take anger management classes, I got a message at 8:30 this morning saying the child was at the bus stop when the mother sent the older sister to bring her back home she said her mother told her that she hated her and was taking her to three rivers because she has a mental problem. I do not know what else to do; it seems that my granddaughter will have to be seriously injured before anyone helps her, this child has only one kidney. What can we do to help this child before it is too late? I am prepared to go to the media with at least 10 pages from a journal that I started keeping in November when this all began. How can you help my family to not lose this child? 108.255.124.165
