spacer Holiday Shopping Begins
Shoppers at Spartanburg's Westgate Mall make the mad dash and run as one of the stores opens before sunrise.

(Greenville) -- Shoppers across South Carolina were out early
this morning looking for bargains and sales.

Toy shoppers in Greenville were out hours before sunrise buying
Bratz dolls and other items at a mall toy store.

The K-B Toys store at the Haywood Mall in the Upstate opened at 5am and a store manager says several customers began waiting about 3am for the store to open.

Off-and-on drizzling rain in the Upstate did not deter
Taylors resident Lyn Drew and Myrtle Beach resident Melissa Allen from getting to the toy store early. They both walked out with trash bags full of toys.

Jim Hatchell is president of the South Carolina Merchants
Association. He recommends customers shop early and take advantage of sales and limited inventory.

Hatchell says this holiday season will be better than last year
because the economy is on the rebound, but the job market but the job market still is sluggish.
