NATIONAL PEANUT TOUR LANDS AT SUNBELT EXPO
MOULTRIE, GA---A “Festival of Peanuts” will descend on the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition this year.
At the October 16-18 show, a 32-foot peanut will mark the location of the 2001 National Peanut Tour Exhibit. The Peanut Tour promotes the health and nutritional benefits of the peanut in association with the March of Dimes Folic Acid Campaign to prevent birth defects.
The air will be filled with lively music and the aroma of peanuts, as Peanut Ambassadors roam the area with a hefty supply of peanut sample bags. On stage, emcees will conduct contests and games, awarding prizes to the winners. In the kitchen area, Chef Duane Nutter will be cooking several different peanut dishes.
Interaction is the name of this peanut game. In a special educational room, visitors may enjoy a virtual reality movie, a fun fact trivia game, a video on how peanut butter is made, and a timeline of peanuts in history. A recipe wall invites guests to take their favorites home with them.
Peanut-themed stickers, temporary tattoos, aprons, t-shirts, stress relievers, magnets, postcards, and recipe cards will also be distributed free to the public. These items will display artwork and slogans from the National Peanut Board, a non-profit farmer-funded research and promotions board representing over 25,000 U.S. peanut farmers and their families.
The Sunbelt Expo show hours are from 8:30 am to 5 pm Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 8:30 am to 4 pm on Thursday. The three-day show will be held at Spence Field; four miles southeast of US Hwy 319 on Highway 133 near Moultrie, GA. Admission is $5 per day, per person.
