Haley, I am a retired Gunners Mate Guns USN, and many years ago when Charleston Naval Base was open we used to have Naval sea cadets come to the range for training. They did not get to touch any weapons. What I did was hold a lecture questioning their collective knowledge about firearms safety. Why can't we as a state hold an annual school lecture at all schools in the junior high school range and conduct the same style lecture. I also made my point by asking if they knew what the intended purpose of any weapon was. I also got all of the wrong answers, but made sure that they understood that it was designed to do one thing only, KILL. I would also cover life subjects in general, arguments, fights and gang violence as best I knew how to. If we stepped up and did this in our class rooms we might be able to reach a few students, but that may be enough. Chris Hamilton
