My husband and I welcomed our second son and knew that in order to have the family life we desired, we would have to leave our old home in Miami Florida. When researching where to plant our roots, Chapin stood out. Beautiful nature, excellent schools, small businesses, a real sense of community. There was no choice- it HAD to be home. So we moved our family here and bought a new home. We have been welcomed into the community with open arms and have met so many wonderful people. We constantly brag that we made the right choice. THIS is what we needed to live a good life. Today I received some disturbing news. I had heard that there are plans of bringing low income housing into our area. What a strain on the community! Our businesses and emergency response and schools will suffer exponentially. Many people I've spoken to have moved here to get away from "city life". I have to beg to you that this doesn't happen. I worry for myself and my children. This isn't what we signed up for when we signed up for Chapin. It's not a secret that low income housing affects the schools. South Carolina as a whole is on the nation's worst schooling list. But Chapin - Chapin is doing great. We have schools worth bragging about. Please, I beg you, as many others are too I'm sure, don't bring that here. This isn't for us. This isn't the place. Let Chapin be the charming small town it is. Let us enjoy the quiet. Please. Sincerely, Emily Lawrence 518 eagles rest dr Chapin SC 29036 (410)491-4034
